He cares about Chernov like he does with any other Soviet, and can never truly bring himself to hate or even dislike Chernov.ĭimitri is torn between Reznov and Chernov.

However, he does envy Chernov sometimes, - at times, he feels like he’s going insane for revenge, whereas Chernov seems unaffected by the carnage around him (it does affect him but he doesn’t go mad over it) just peacefully writing in his journal. He has heard tales of German atrocities from Chernov himself, and does not understand why Chernov is so reluctant to kill, he even uses a de-scoped sniper rifle so his kills are quick and painless. Reznov does not understand why Chernov is not vengeful. Reznov is very much vengeful whereas Chernov does not see a point in revenge, and wants to do what’s necessary in ending the war, with the least amount of bloodshed possible.Īt times, Chernov can see why Reznov is so vengeful, the tales Reznov has told him and his comrades about the atrocities of the Germans are truly horrifying, however, he sees the Germans as human first, and will always be at heart, a pacifist They’re soldiers after all and have both seen many terrible things done by the Germans, however, they both deal with it differently. Although they both got into many arguments, I think they still, inside, cared about each other. I don’t even think Chernov or Reznov hated each other or anything. Whenever Reznov would scold Chernov, I’d like to think that Dimitri would then give some kind words to Chernov or even just smile. I like to think that Dimitri was morally grey, due to his influences from both Chernov and Reznov.
